Dioctyl Sebacate (DOS), is a plasticizer derived from a natural and renewable castor bean feedstock. This is a product with a wide variety of applications such as use as an emollient, lubricant, solvent, and plasticizer. As a plasticizer, DOS is used in PVC and its copolymers such as nitrocelluloses, styrene resins, and synthetic rubbers. It is especially useful when low temperature performance is required, such as in anti-frosting cable. DOS can also be used in lubricants to allow more mobility at lower temperatures.In personal care products, DOS is used in many applications including makeup, sunscreens, and lotions or creams.
